What is Supportive Housing?
Supportive Housing provides accessible, rent-geared-to-income apartments with 24-hour onsite non-medical personal support.
Residents live in their own self-contained apartments and receive scheduled support based on their individual needs.
The goal of Supportive Housing is to provide reliable access to assistance with daily living while supporting independence, skill-building, and connection to community resources.
Who Is It For?
Supportive Housing may be a good fit people who:
- Are 16 years of age or older
- Have a physical disability
- Need accessible housing
- Require help with daily activities
- Are able to make decisions about their own care
- Can remain safe between scheduled support visits
What Kind of Support Is Provided?
Support is non-medical and may include help with:
- Bathing and personal care
- Getting dressed
- Toileting
- Eating and meal routines
- Moving safely within the apartment
- Light housekeeping
Support is scheduled in advance. On-call support may be available when needed.
Additional services to support independence are available, including support with life skills and connecting to community services. Independent Living Supports program.
How Does Service Planning Work?
Residents direct their own services.
Each person:
- Signs a Service Agreement
- Develops a Client Service Plan
- Reviews their support needs each year

How Do I Apply
Applications for Supportive Housing are submitted through the Attendant Services Application Centre (ASAC) at the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto (CILT).
ASAC coordinates assessment and manages waitlists in partnership with service providers, including Bellwoods.

Bellwoods delivers supportive housing through several sites across Toronto. Sites include:
- Shaw Street – 32 accessible apartments
- Dundas Street West – 31 accessible apartments
- Mimico (Etobicoke) – 13 accessible apartments
- Elm Street (Downtown) – 13 accessible apartments
- Walton Place (Scarborough) – 12 accessible apartments
- 200 Madison (Midtown) – 20 accessible apartments
- 877 Yonge (Downtown) – 13 accessible apartments
- Sudbury (Downtown) – 10 accessible apartments
- Deauville Place – 10 accessible Units
