Nursing Week 2026: Recognizing the Nurses Supporting Independent Living
Today, we proudly celebrate the Personal Support Workers (PSWs) who are at the heart of Bellwoods.
Across our organization, more than 200 PSWs provide essential, day-to-day support to the people we serve. Their work makes a meaningful difference helping clients live independently, safely, and with dignity.
For many of our clients, PSWs are one of the most important parts of their day. Through small, everyday moments of kindness, patience, listening, and genuine care – PSWs build trust, foster connection, and create a sense of safety and belonging.
PSW work is not always easy, and much of it happens quietly, behind the scenes. But its impact is deeply felt by clients, families, and colleagues alike.
As one client shared:“Thank you for your compassion, patience, empathy and kindness. You are appreciated more than you probably realize. The care you show every day truly makes a difference in our lives.”
This year’s theme, “Celebrating the Hands That Care,” recognizes the lasting impact PSWs have on the lives of others. Their work supports independence, builds confidence, and helps people continue living life on their own terms.
To all our PSWs: thank you for your dedication, compassion, and commitment. Bellwoods is stronger because of you and we are so grateful for everything you do.
