From May 31 to June 6, Canadians across the country are recognizing National AccessAbility Week (NAAW) 2026. This annual observance celebrates the leadership, achievements, and contributions of people with disabilities while highlighting the importance of creating a more accessible and inclusive society for all.

This year’s theme, “Building a Strong, Accessible Canada,” reminds us that accessibility is not just about removing barriers, but is also about creating communities where everyone has the opportunity to participate, contribute, and thrive.

At Bellwoods, this message is at the heart of everything we do.

For over 65 years, Bellwoods has supported adults with physical disabilities to live independently and remain actively connected to their communities. Through accessible housing, attendant services, and community support programs, we work alongside the people we serve to help foster choice, dignity, and independence.

Accessibility extends beyond physical spaces. It includes equitable access to housing, transportation, employment, information, technology, recreation, and community participation. When barriers are removed, individuals are empowered to pursue their goals, build meaningful relationships, and live the lives they choose.

National AccessAbility Week also provides an opportunity to recognize the ongoing work required to create a truly inclusive Canada. While important progress has been made, barriers continue to exist in many aspects of daily life. By working together, we can continue to advance accessibility and create communities that are welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

Together, we can help build a stronger, more accessible Canada.
